Pass Plus
The Pass Plus programme enables the newly qualified driver to build on road experience in skills not covered during Learner Driver training at a time when they are most vulnerable to accidents as a result of their inexperience.
There is no test at the end of the course but the driver will need to reach the required standard in all modules before certification can be achieved. Once at this standard the student will be eligible for a 'one-year no claims discount' with many leading insurance companies, thereby saving themselves potentially significant sums of money over their first five years of driving as well as becoming safer drivers in the process!
The course must be undertaken during the first year after passing the driving test in order for the individual to qualify for insurance discounts.
Pass Plus consists of 6 modules as follows:-
* Town driving (more complex scenarios) using a positive driving style
* All-weather driving (Likely to be a theory module unless inclement weather on the day of training)
* Rural country roads and single track narrow lanes with passing places
* Night driving
* Dual carriageways (including more complex scenarios)
* Motorway driving (both 2 and 3 lane carriageways)
From my personal experience this course is enjoyed by all who undertake it and benefits the individual in terms of improved experience and therefore confidence on the roads, greater skills in often demanding situations and, importantly, significant insurance cost savings in the first few years of their driving.
